Louisiana @ Canton: Owner and General Manager Ross Napoli

Ross Napoli

Houma, La. Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for joining us for this press conference ahead of our Week 2 matchup against the Canton Classics. I’m here to address your questions and share insights about our team’s preparations and expectations for the upcoming game.

Reporter Jack MeHoff: Ross, the team had an impressive victory against the Atlanta Swarm in Week 1. What are your overall impressions of the team’s performance, and how do you plan to build on that momentum against the Canton Classics?

Ross Napoli: Thank you for the question. Our performance against the Atlanta Swarm was indeed a great start to the season. Our offense executed well under Tommy Utah’s leadership, and our defense showcased its strength and determination. It’s crucial for us to carry this momentum forward as we face the Canton Classics. We’ve been emphasizing consistency and refining our strategies during practice to ensure we maintain the same level of execution and intensity.

Reporter Ben Dover: Ross, you mentioned your friendship with the owners of the Canton Classics, Adam Chance and Kristian Aleixo. How does that dynamic influence the competitiveness on the field, and does it add a unique layer to the rivalry?

Ross Napoli: Absolutely, it does. Football is a competitive sport, and when you’re facing friends and respected colleagues on the opposing side, it adds an interesting dimension to the game. Adam and Kristian are remarkable individuals who share the same love for the SFL, and our friendly rivalry off the field only adds to the excitement on game day. It’s a balance of competition and camaraderie, and I believe it showcases the strong sense of community that exists within our league.

Reporter Jenny Talya: Ross, your defensive line, including players like Chance Wall, Neal Rivers, and Gary Birney, had an impressive showing in Week 1. How do you expect them to fare against the Canton Classics’ offensive lineup, and what strategies are in place to counter their key players like Scar Patterson and Robert Johnson?

Ross Napoli: Our defensive line’s performance in Week 1 was certainly commendable, and I have full confidence in their abilities. Facing a talented offensive lineup like the Canton Classics will be a challenge, but our coaches have been analyzing their play style and tendencies. We’ll be focusing on maintaining pressure on the quarterback and disrupting their rhythm. Scar Patterson and Robert Johnson are formidable players, but we’re prepared to adjust our defensive schemes to contain their impact and create turnovers.

Reporter Harry P. Ness: Ross, with Lyriic Davinci’s standout performance in Week 1, can you comment on his role in the upcoming game and how his chemistry with Tommy Utah has been developing?

Ross Napoli: Lyriic Davinci’s performance in Week 1 was certainly impressive, and he’s an integral part of our offensive strategy. His chemistry with Tommy Utah has been steadily developing, and they’ve been putting in the extra work to fine-tune their connection on the field. We’ll continue to utilize Lyriic’s speed and agility to stretch the field and make crucial receptions. His versatility adds another dimension to our offense, and we’ll be looking to capitalize on that against the Canton Classics.

Reporter Mike Hawk: Ross, the Canton Classics are coming off a close loss to the Jacksonville Kings in Week 1. How do you see their playing style matching up against our team, and what areas do you think we need to focus on to secure a victory?

Ross Napoli: The Canton Classics are a resilient team, and their close game against the Jacksonville Kings shows their competitiveness. We anticipate a tough matchup, and we’ll need to maintain our defensive discipline and capitalize on offensive opportunities. Our focus will be on minimizing mistakes, controlling the pace of the game, and exploiting any weaknesses in their defense. It’s going to be an exciting game, and we’re prepared to showcase our strengths to secure another victory on the road.

Reporter Pat McKrotch: Ross, the depth of our running back position has been evident with Duane Sammons and Chris Grant Jr. Both showed promise in Week 1. How do you plan to manage their roles in the upcoming game, especially considering Sammons’ injury scare?

Ross Napoli: It’s true, our running back depth is a valuable asset for us. Duane Sammons and Chris Grant Jr. both demonstrated their capabilities in Week 1, and we’re pleased with their contributions. Regarding Duane’s injury, I’m happy to report that after a thorough evaluation, it was determined to be a strain rather than a more serious issue. We’re taking a cautious approach to his recovery, and our medical staff is working diligently to ensure he’s ready for the Canton Classics game. Chris Grant Jr. has shown he can step up when needed, and we have full confidence in his abilities as well.

Reporter Buster Cherry: Ross, the defensive backfield, particularly Rolamin Hood, made significant plays in Week 1. How do you envision them matching up against the Canton Classics’ receiving corps, and what adjustments are you considering to counter their passing attack?

Ross Napoli: Our defensive backfield, led by players like Rolamin Hood, played a crucial role in our Week 1 victory. Facing the Canton Classics’ receivers will be another challenge, but we’re well-prepared. Our coaches have been analyzing their passing schemes and identifying potential areas of vulnerability. Rolamin Hood’s track record, including his two interceptions in the preseason, speaks for itself, and we believe he can play a pivotal role in disrupting their passing game. We’ll be making strategic adjustments to ensure we have the right coverage schemes and matchups to contain their receiving corps.

Reporter Jack MeHoff: Ross, special teams played a crucial role in our Week 1 win, with a fumble recovery and solid kicking performance. How do you plan to capitalize on these special teams’ contributions moving forward, and what improvements are being emphasized in practice?

Ross Napoli: Special teams are often an unsung hero in football, and we’re proud of the contributions they made in Week 1. Our fumble recovery was a pivotal moment, and our kicking game was on point. Moving forward, we’ll continue to emphasize the importance of field position and capitalizing on any opportunities that special teams can provide. Our special teams unit has been working hard to refine their techniques and execution during practice, and we’ll be looking to maintain that level of excellence against the Canton Classics. Consistency and attention to detail will be key factors in maximizing our special teams’ advantage.

Reporter Jenny Talya: Ross, looking ahead to the game against the Canton Classics, can you provide insights into the team’s mindset and the key messages you’re conveying to the players as they prepare for this matchup?

Ross Napoli: Our mindset remains focused and determined as we approach this game against the Canton Classics. We’ve built a strong foundation of teamwork, discipline, and hard work, and we’re carrying that mentality into every matchup. The key message to our players is to stay committed to our game plan, execute to the best of their abilities, and play with passion and unity. Facing a team like the Canton Classics requires us to be adaptable and prepared for any situation. Our ultimate goal is to showcase the Louisiana Revolution’s brand of football, one that combines excellence, grit, and the pursuit of victory.
